The United Architects of the Philippines Qatar Chapter commemorated the enduring legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal with a heartfelt event on December 30, 2024, held at Cocina de Rose Restaurant. Partnering with the BCSG community group, the gathering honored the life and contributions of a true Filipino hero who inspired a nation through his writings and actions. Dr. Rizal’s unwavering dedication to education, reform, and national pride ignited the Filipino fight for independence and continues to shape generations toward a brighter future.
The event was graced by the presence of the chapter’s pioneer president, Architect Mario Macaranas, along with other esteemed guests. A remarkable highlight of the celebration was a special preview of rare Rizal memorabilia, generously provided by Migicollections. The display included vintage Rizal and Rizal Monument stamps, a December 1971 Knights of Rizal program, 1940s Japanese liberation and Commonwealth paper bills, and a 1998 PCSO Sweepstakes ticket—all bearing Rizal's iconic image.
Attendees donned elegant traditional Filipiniana attire, including intricately embroidered barongs and vibrant dresses, creating a visual homage to Filipino heritage. The gathering also drew the attention of other diners, some of whom were overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) initially unaware of the national holiday. They joined the celebration, reflecting on the profound significance of Rizal Day.
As participants celebrated Rizal’s sacrifices and ideals, the event echoed a call to uphold the values he championed—education, reform, and national pride. Through collective remembrance and action, the legacy of Dr. Jose Rizal remains alive, guiding future generations toward unity and progress.
